Petri Kuljuntausta (1961–) makes use of methods from both musique concrète and electronic music.
He has collaborated with artists such as Morton Subotnick, one of the legends of electronic music, as
well as with Pat Mastelotto, known as the percussionist of King Crimson. In addition to composing and
performing, Kuljuntausta is known for his work in radio as well as in teaching. He is also the author
of ON/OFF — eetteriäänistä sähkömusiikkiin (Like 2002), a history of Finnish electronic
music and Äänen eXtreme (Like 2006), a diverse study of sound art. At the Avanto/Äänen Lumo Club,
Kuljuntausta will perform his new piece City Noise, where he combines his traditional elements
with guitar and real-time sounds from outer space.
