Tape is a Stockholm-based trio founded in 2000 by the two brothers Andreas and Johan Berthling
along with Tomas Hallonsten. Their music is a natural synthesis of experimental and pop music and an
exceptionally elegant combination of acoustic and electronic sounds, with instruments ranging from
the glockenspiel, harmonium and guitar to analogue synthesisers and computer processing. The result
is a warm and organic texture. Their catchy melodies breathe in the spirit of early minimalism and
combine with drone-like backgrounds, creating an atmosphere of timelessness with no trace of hippie
clichés whatsoever. Their third (and, to date, latest) album, Rideau, released in autumn 2005,
brought the band a wider audience, and after that their atmospheric, instrumental soundscapes have
charmed audiences on tours through Japan, Europe, and the United States. Performing in Finland for
the first time, Tape is a band whose music is a perfect match with our gradually darkening autumn
nights.
