One of the cornerstones of the “underground of friendship” introduced at Avanto 2006 was not on stage at the festival, but this year Avarus will be there bewildering the audience. This constantly evolving group of musical amateurs and visionaries has been active since 2001, drawing influences from all over the map. New and old American underground, real and imaginary ethnic music, electronic music, drone rock and free jazz have all been cooked into a spectacular concoction where nothing but spontaneity and energy remain constant. The band has toured extensively in Central Europe and the United States, but their performances at home have been few and far between.
